Le Patin Libre has a new warehouse and creative space in Hochelaga.
It features an open space measuring 11 m x 16 m with a concrete floor. The ceiling is approximately 6 m (20 feet) high. One anchor point for a person, equipped with a 3:1 pulley, is available.
The lease agreement with the landlord allows the landlord to reclaim the space for 60 days a year, with seven days’ notice. The landlord rents the space to film crews. By combining the generous revenue from film shoots with the modest rent, this shared garage space is able to open its doors to the non-commercial (and more modest) performing arts community.
During May and June 2026, Le Patin Libre will be offering this space free of charge to Montreal’s performing arts community. It is offering a few free residencies:
- 4 sessions of 4 hours each (8 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) spread over one week
- for rehearsals, practice, and creative work only (no lighting or complex setups)
- the space must be cleared between each period of use
- only very limited storage is available between periods of use
- maximum of 12 people in the garage
- no events open to the public
- with 7 days’ notice, each rental period may need to be rescheduled to make room for a film shoot
