The Human Potential Research Center HUPR was commissioned by En Piste, the national network for circus arts, to create a practical tool for calculating circus act pricing. Currently, pricing in the circus sector is often difficult to establish fairly and consistently. This tool aims to support the professionalization of the industry and provide a clear and common benchmark to better value artistic work.
The project is led by Marion Cossin, research engineer at HUPR. The first step of her work will be to conduct five consultation tables, three in French and two in English, to consult the circus community across Canada and collectively create this tool. Artists, companies, producers, presenters, and any other interested organizations are welcome.
Objective
The objective of these meetings is to gather information to build a practical pricing calculation tool. This tool, accessible to the entire En Piste community, will make it possible to determine an amount to request based on a few simple questions. Beyond just a price, the tool will help justify and understand the amounts proposed during contract negotiations and enhance the value of the circus discipline.
During the meetings, to build the questions to include in the calculator, we will discuss:
– The factors that influence pricing
– How these factors modify the amount or rate to be requested
– The experiences, best practices, and challenges encountered by participants
We invite them to share their insights to enrich this collective work. We are committed to building this tool using best practices and experiences from the community.
The discussions will focus on the pricing of circus acts.
Participation Details
Five online consultation tables:

Your contribution will be greatly appreciated. If you are not available for the table that best matches your profile, you can simply register for another table.
Duration of each table: 60 minutes, extendable to 90 minutes Registration is mandatory: register
During registration, some information will be collected (role, type of organization, region, etc.) to ensure diversity of profiles and that the realities of the community are well represented in the final tool. A Teams link will then be sent.
Confidentiality and other Options
If you agree to participate in one of these roundtables, please note that the meeting will be recorded for the sole purpose of taking detailed notes.
