Montreal, May 1, 2023 – Cirque Hors Piste, in collaboration with CCSE Maisonneuve and the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, invites the entire community on May 25 to celebrate the inauguration of a new circus hub in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. This project, the result of a concerted effort between the borough and the cultural and community sectors of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, confirms the circus vocation of the Emmanuel-Arthur-Doucet building and contributes to the cultural influence of the area.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discover the new spaces and attend a host of activities, such as artistic performances, circus initiation workshops, and a DJ set.
“The arrival of Cirque Hors Piste at the Emmanuel-Arthur-Doucet building marks a renewal for the cultural and social life of the neighbourhood. By offering a unique space for creation and training for artists and circus enthusiasts, this collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to the flourishing of circus culture in our community,” rejoices Pierre Lessard-Blais, Mayor of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
This new circus hub is an innovative project where social circus, artist services, a creative laboratory, and circus leisure activities coexist. This new home for Cirque Hors Piste becomes the first venue dedicated to social circus, thus contributing to the development of this practice and its influence as an effective tool in the fight against social exclusion.
