Artificial intelligence is already emerging as a major issue for Québec’s cultural sector. En Piste highlights the importance of the study « L’IA en culture : Mieux comprendre pour agir ensemble », released by Compétence Culture, which provides a clear picture of the transformations underway and the emerging needs related to digital skills.
Based on an extensive consultation process bringing together professionals from all cultural sectors, this study reveals key findings: an inevitable evolution of trades and professions, a still-limited adoption of AI tools, and a strong desire within the sector to better understand these technologies in order to integrate them ethically, creatively, and responsibly. The results also show that many organizations and workers are struggling to identify their training needs and to access suitable resources.
For En Piste, this publication serves as an essential reference to support the entire cultural sector through this transition. It underscores the importance of strengthening digital literacy, developing agile and accessible continuing education opportunities, and fostering collaboration among partners to ensure an equitable and well-informed integration of AI into professional practices.
We invite our community, as well as all cultural workers and stakeholders, to explore this study and its recommendations, which will help anticipate upcoming changes and support a thoughtful and sustainable evolution of our practices.
