Stories to Imagine the Future of the Circus
On September 18 and 19, CircAssembly will bring together artists, creators, programmers, producers, and other members of the community for presentations, discussions, and participatory sessions designed to foster connections and the exchange of ideas.
As part of this program, Nadia Drouin, Executive Director of En Piste, and Emmanuel Rock Cyr, Program Director, will lead the workshop “Stories That Move Us: Imagining the Future of Circus Together” on Saturday, September 18, at 3:30 p.m.
What is it about a circus experience that stays with us long after we’ve enjoyed it? What do these memorable moments reveal about what we wish to preserve, transform, or build within our community?
This interactive workshop will invite participants to draw on their own experiences to exchange perspectives and imagine the future of the circus together. Through conversation, movement, and active listening, participants will explore what fuels their commitment to the circus, the values they consider essential, and the changes they would like to see come to fruition in the coming years.
These individual stories will serve as a starting point for identifying collective aspirations and reflecting on how the community can strengthen its bonds and take action together.
Building Connections Nationwide
En Piste’s participation in CircAssembly is part of its work to build a pan-Canadian network within the circus sector. Being present in St. John’s allows the organization to connect with the communities that keep the circus alive in different regions, to better understand their realities, and to create spaces where experiences, knowledge, and ideas can flow freely.
En Piste is pleased to contribute to this gathering and to the conversations that will enable everyone to collectively envision a stronger, more connected, and more representative circus community.
