In order to be eligible for the subsidized rate, participants must reside in Quebec and either be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident,or hold a work permit (open or closed). In addition, they must have one of the following employment statuses: Self-employed individual or Support for Self-Employment Measure, employee of a non-profit organization or a company whose payroll does not exceed $2,000,000, recipient of Employment Insurance or Social Assistance, recipient of an employment integration measure, or unemployed.
This activity allows circus artists with dance experience to explore their full range of movement. Artists will work with various tempos and learn percussive rhythms to vary their interpretation of these movements. As a result, artists will be better equipped to work with choreographers and dancers in a professional setting.
This workshop is intended for circus artists with dance experience.
From Guinea, Yamoussa Bangoura has a solid background in traditional African dance after having been a trainee at the Ballets africains, then trained by the Troupe Saamato, in Conakry. As a multidisciplinary artist, he began his circus training with the Guinean troupe Circus Baobab, with whom he toured Africa and Europe (La légende du singe tambourinaire). From 2002 to 2007, he was an acrobat with Cirque Éloize (Nomade) and then joined Cavalia in 2010 on Odysseo, a show in which he contributed (musical and choreographic design). Since 2014, Yamoussa has devoted himself to the projects of his company, Productions Kalabanté, where he combines dance, African music and acrobatics. His original creations, marked by the percussion of his native land, combine acrobatics and traditional dances. The Kalabanté studio, which opened in 2018, allows Yamoussa to teach to a wider audience and to share this space with the circus community.
