Description
This interactive, physical workshop explores handbalancing fundamentals such as:
• Common mistakes in training handstands and how to fix them
• Alignment of the back and shoulders
• Custom exercises for training handstands at home (specific warm-ups, different strength and flexibility exercises)
This workshop is aimed at circus professionals (performers, coaches, social circus practitioners, etc.) who want to work on handbalancing fundamentals. In order to benefit from the online group format, participants should be able to kick up into a handstand and hold it for a minimum of ten seconds.
Required material
Training clothes, water, computer (with a camera option for Zoom) and wifi connection. In order to participate in all the exercises, participants should also have a free wall to work with.
Trainer
Olaf Triebel started circus at the age of ten in a youth circus program in his native Germany. In 2000 he started his training in handbalancing at the National Circus School of Montreal. Since graduating in 2004, he has performed his solo handbalancing act for Cirque du Soleil, The 7 Fingers, Cirque Eloize, Spiegelworld and other companies and theatres across the world. He has taught handbalancing workshops throughout Europe, the US, Australia, New Zealand, and China.
