Montreal, June 4, 2024 — En Piste, the national network for circus arts, is pleased to continue its partnership with the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM) and announces the finalists for the 2024 Propulsion Award in Circus Arts. This award recognizes audacity and highlights the significant contribution of an individual or group to the development of the discipline, whether through innovation, influence, or community engagement. The Propulsion Award and its $10,000 grant, offered by the CAM, in conjunction with En Piste, will be presented during the 5 to 7 opening night event of the MONTREAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE festival on July 3, 2024 at TOHU.
This first edition of the Propulsion Award marks the beginning of a three-year agreement continuing until 2026.
Nineteen Innovative Projects
The nineteen submitted projects were all of high quality and reflect the diverse circus practices present in Montreal. Four projects have been selected as finalists. Their artists and creators represent the present and future of Quebec circus with their scenic writing and dramaturgy, their inventiveness in acrobatic forms, in creation, management, and civic actions.
