Training Overview
Through guided improvisation, contemporary dance, and floor work, circus artists will discover new ways of moving, expand their physical vocabulary, and develop greater confidence in their creative process.
Throughout the workshop, we will explore practical methods for generating choreographic material, creating seamless transitions within circus acts, and building a personal choreographic language. We will also cover strategies for learning and retaining choreography, making movement more efficient, expressive, and memorable.
Across five classes, participants will learn contemporary dance phrases while gaining creative tools that can be applied directly to their own acts and performances. The workshop is designed to inspire curiosity, strengthen artistic expression, and provide fresh approaches to movement creation both on and off the apparatus.
Biography
Kyra Jean Green is a Canadian-American choreographer, director, and multidisciplinary artist based in Montréal. A graduate of The Juilliard School (B.F.A. 2006), she has built an international career creating work at the intersection of dance, circus, and theatre.
Kyra has danced and choreographed with Les 7 Doigts on Triptyque, Réversible, 1001 Nights, and Cubes à Carrés. She also worked with Circo Rudá in Santos, Brazil, from 2012–2015, where she danced, created, and performed original works.
As the founder and Artistic Director of Trip The Light Fantastic, Kyra creates visually compelling, movement-driven productions that blend contemporary dance, physical theatre, and technology. Her work has been presented internationally and recognized with multiple Prix Coup de Cœur awards at Festival Quartiers Danses, reflecting her passion for collaborative creation, innovation, and powerful storytelling.
