About the course
This training program, the first of its kind in Quebec, is dedicated to circus dramaturgy applied to the creation of short form works, where the composition of an intimate and evocative stage language takes precedence over spectacle.
This intensive course, combining theory and practical exploration, takes place over seven days in Montreal.
This is a pilot project developed by En Piste in partnership with Andréane Leclerc and made possible thanks to financial support from the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail (CPMT) through the Impulsion-Compétences programme.
Educational committee
Andréane Leclerc, Paloma Leyton, Mathilde Perahia et Ricard Soler Mallol.
Target audience
Open to all performing arts creators and designers wishing to explore the specificities of circus dramaturgy and its practical application within the context of short-form circus.
Ojectives
- Acquire dramaturgical tools and stage writing methodologies, both general and specific to the circus
- Gain the tools to conceive, write and structure a short-form circus piece
- View constraints as spaces of possibility (venues, technical aspects, resources, body…)
- Take on multiple roles in the creative process (dramaturg, director, performer, designer)
- Consider the connection with the audience and the community at the outset of the process (Identify who you are addressing, who your audience is and how you reach them? How does this impact the form?)
- Strengthen ties within the artistic community and share practices
- Promote experimental approaches and circus experimentation
- Reflect on the political dimension and dynamics of one’s own creative actions in relation to the local ecosystem
- Develop critical and reflective thinking on circus writing
Details regarding the content, venue and trainers will be announced shortly.
