Call for proposals for a colloquium on cultural initiatives in Quebec
December 7, 2020

On March 13, 2020, the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la littérature et la culture québécoises (CRILCQ) began a census of cultural initiatives implemented by groups and individuals from Quebec in response to the COVID-19 crisis. To date, the project has identified 1513 initiatives involving 6014 individuals and 952 organizations or collectives.

They will organize a colloquium on March 10, 11, 12 and 13, 2021, entitled Réagir, créer, persévérer: les initiatives culturelles québécoises au temps de la COVID-19. The purpose of these study days is to reflect on the initiatives carried out during the COVID-19 crisis and to report on them through various theoretical and methodological perspectives. The program is organized around four angles: 1) Reacting to the crisis; 2) Creating during the crisis; 3) Keeping in touch in times of pandemic; 4) Persevering (and surviving).

The reflections carried out in these four components will lead to a multimodal work that will put into perspective the more or less lasting transformations brought about in the cultural and literary field in Quebec by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Proposals for papers of 200 to 300 words in length accompanied by a 100-word bibliographic record are expected by December 15, 2020 at the latest at the following email address: [email protected]. Talks in English will also be considered and are encouraged. They are open to receiving applications for all cultural forms and manifestations, and from all communities and nations of Quebec.

Through this project, we will learn a lot about the resilience and inventiveness of our artistic communities.
