En Piste’s Board of Directors revealed at our AGM
On April 8, 2021, we held our Annual General Meeting online, bringing together nearly 120 members of our vibrant circus community! We presented the results of the year 2020, the outlook for 2021 and the new composition of the 2021-2022 board of directors.
Nearly 120 people logged on to the Zoom platform yesterday at 11:00 a.m. to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Those who registered had received the required documents, including a digital copy of the 2020 Annual Report that same morning. Christine Bouchard presented the results of the year 2020 and the outlook for 2021. We took advantage of the presence of so many members to make the announcement of two new programs: the circus arts dissemination assistance measure (under development) and the reimbursement assistance for training expenses, which will open on April 19, 2021.
This year's Board of Directors elections were held online April 6-8. An unusual number of 11 out of 16 positions were up for election in the three colleges of Individual, Corporate and Training Organization members. This could be due to the 2020 renewal of the terms of the outgoing directors, but also to the general context in which we find ourselves.
Sixteen people presented their candidacy, among whom were elected: Maude Arseneault (artist), Rosalie Beauchamp (Le Monastère), Marie-Hélène Côté (artist), Anahareo Doelle (Wonderbolt Productions), Natasha Drouin-Beauregard (Cirque Éloize), Martin Frenette (artist), Rachel Gauthier (artist), Karine Lavoie (Cirque Hors Piste) and Ruth Juliet Wikler (TOHU). Éric Langlois (National Circus School) and Tim Roberts (École de cirque de Québec) were elected by acclamation as they were the only ones to run for the two vacant positions in their college. Congratulations to the newly elected directors! We would also like to thank all those who applied. Thanks to you, we maintain a healthy and dynamic democratic life!
The term of office for Board members is normally two years. However, due to resignations, three of these positions were only available for one year. A live draw determined that these half terms would go to Anahareo Doelle, Rachel Gauthier and Karine Lavoie. They will, of course, be able to run again next year if they so wish.
A first Board meeting was held immediately after the AGM. During this meeting, it was agreed that the executive committee would remain the same, with Marie-Claude Bouillon as president, Tim Roberts as vice-president, Éric Langlois as treasurer and Christine Bouchard as secretary.
We warmly thank the outgoing directors: Marie-Ève Dicaire, Jimmy Gonzalez, Itzel Viruega, Claudel Doucet, Emmanuel Bochud, and we give a special thank you to Stéphane Lavoie, who has been involved in the Board of Directors of our alliance for many years.
