The Groupe de travail sur la fréquentation des arts de la scène (GTFAS), in which En Piste has been involved since its inception in 2014, is pleased to announce the publication of a long-awaited research project on performing arts attendance in Quebec, the Étude des publics des arts de la scène au Québec. The national, disciplinary and geographic profiles of audiences and non-audiences, the factors influencing attendance and a prospective assessment are presented and analyzed.

The nearly 500-page study, conducted by DAIGLE/SAIRE, provides a detailed portrait of performing arts attendance before the pandemic, from March 2018 to February 2019. It uses a set of rich data compiled through a very large national survey (6,254 respondents), 3 targeted surveys (20,000 respondents) and finally, some thirty interviews with key informants.

It takes into account the different territorial realities throughout Quebec (urban centers, outlying areas, remote regions, etc.) and considers many elements, such as the various forms of professional dissemination (free, paid, festival, alternative venues, etc.).

It was made possible by the financial support of the following five partners

- Canada Council for the Arts

- Ministère de la Culture et des Communications

- Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec

- Canadian Heritage

- Société de développement des entreprises culturelles
