Born in Montreal to Haitian parents, Elsie Morin began classical ballet classes at the age of 5. As a teenager, she discovered many different dance styles and developed a particular interest in modern dance. During her high school years, she also dabbled in artistic gymnastics. Her training consists of more than 6000 hours of classes.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a Certificate in Dance from the Université de Montréal. For more than ten years, she has taught languages and social sciences to students at the undergraduate and graduate levels for several school boards. During this time, she continued to fuel her passion for dance by training, teaching, choreographing, and running her own dance company. It was during her maternity leave that she met Mathieu Roy who convinced her to become an artist and to do a duet with him on the rotating pole.
