SOCIAL CIRCUS PRACTITIONER
Full time position - 28 hours per week

Cirque Hors Piste (CHP) is a Montreal-based organization dedicated to social intervention through the circus arts. Since 1995, we have been offering an alternative and inclusive creative space to young people with marginalized backgrounds. The organization promotes personal and social learning through the circus arts. Cirque Hors Piste's intervention team is composed of social circus instructors, assistant instructors and social workers.

Under the supervision of the Intervention Coordinator, the person intervenes with the participants according to the social circus, global, systemic and harm reduction approach in all the activities related to the intervention, namely Cirko-Vélo, outreach, social circus workshops and collective creations.

YOUR ROLE
Assess the situation of the participants you meet and provide the necessary support;
Refer and accompany participants as needed;
Intervene in crisis situations;
Work as a team with the social circus instructors and the assistant instructors by integrating a tandem animation mode;
Establish and maintain a safe environment for the physical and emotional well-being of participants;
Develop and maintain collaborations with other organizations and tables of concertation in direct link with the position;
To ensure the coherence of interventions between the different components of the HPC;
Compile intervention statistics and carry out the necessary assessments;
Create links with participants and promote CHP's activities in different organizations (outreach);
Participate in various team meetings;
Represent the organization in different events/conferences;
Participate in the activities of the national component of CHP, which includes stays of several days outside of Montreal
Participate in the daily management of the circus workshops (snacks, room, material, logbook);
Participate in reflections related to the organization's orientations;
Facilitate group discussions (welcome, feedback, social games);
Any related tasks to ensure the smooth running of activities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Adhere to the values and philosophy of Cirque Hors Piste;
College or university degree in an appropriate field or equivalent experience;
Knowledge of the social circus approach;
Good physical and mental health in order to perform the job safely;
Ability to work in a team;
Demonstrate autonomy, proactivity and organizational skills;
Ability to manage stress and ambiguity;
Ability to intervene in a crisis situation;
Autonomy, resourcefulness, creativity, initiative, clinical sense, leadership;
Ability to facilitate group discussions;
Ability to actively participate in circus activities;
Knowledge of youth, homelessness and consumer issues;
Ability to work in collaboration with different partners;
Establish trusting relationships with participants;
Establish a balance between individual support and group intervention;
Demonstrate adaptability and creativity in finding solutions to individual or group problems or unexpected events;
Bilingualism in French and English;
Experience in street work or group intervention is an asset

WHAT CIRQUE HORS PISTE OFFERS:
Full time position of 28 hours
Starting date: February 2023
An hourly wage of $21/hr
