Congratulations to trapeze artist, choreographer, co-founder and co-artistic director of Les 7 doigts de la main, Shana Carroll, who has been named Compagne des arts et des lettres du Québec, along with twelve other recipients: Paule Baillargeon, Lucie Boissinot, Shana Carroll, René Richard Cyr, Louis Dallaire, Michèle Lapointe, Ranee Lee, Jacques Matte, Caroline Monnet, Guy Parent, Jocelyn Robert, Richard Séguin and Larry Tremblay.

Shana Carroll has left her substantial mark on the vast circus universe. A multidisciplinary talent gatherer and avant-garde creator whose achievements enrich our collective imagination, this American by birth and Quebecer by adoption has fostered the emergence, growth and development of a new generation of circus artists who shine on stage and under the big top all over the world.

This prestigious distinction awarded by the CALQ pays tribute to personalities from the cultural milieu for their remarkable contribution to the growth and reputation for excellence of Quebec's arts and letters, both here and abroad. Whether in the spotlight or behind the scenes, they have shaped Quebec culture, inspired our imagination and inspired pride.

CALQ will award them the prestigious distinction of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec at a ceremony on May 29 at the Espace Orange in the Wilder Building in Montreal.
