Starting next autumn, En Piste will embark on a new project: to build a distribution circuit designed to support and propel up-and-coming circus artists in Quebec. Given the particular challenges of this market, we felt it was essential to implement a project that would open the doors of such a network to artists of the new generation, and that would respond to their needs and aspirations.

Our initiative, supported by CALQ, includes a commitment to offer in-depth coaching, a gateway to skills acquisition and a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in preparing, implementing, directing and promoting a first tour of Quebec territory. Selected artists will also benefit from comprehensive support to develop captivating mediation activities and maximize their visibility, referencing and impact in the digital universe.

Accompaniment will be provided by La compagnie des autres, who will support the artists until their show is presented. In particular, this collaboration will enable them to create tools adapted to their needs and promoting their autonomy. Le Petit Théâtre de Rouyn-Noranda, which took part in our first digital project last February, will also be working to enhance their knowledge of discoverability. This synergy of support will help forge new perspectives for everyone.

As for presenters, we will be granting a fee subsidy to those who join Destination cirque and commit to integrating an up-and-coming show into their programming. In addition, we will ensure the preparation of the hosting of shows.

As of today, 15 presenters will participate in the development of the emerging circus circuit.

To take part in the project, companies or artist collectives must be touring Quebec for the first time. A fee will be paid during the period of support and preparation for the tour. They will be selected through a call for projects, which will take place in November this year. The shows will be chosen through meetings with the presenters taking part in the tour.

In short, our project aims to anchor the dissemination of up-and-coming circus artists, by increasing the visibility of emerging companies among Quebec presenters and audiences; developing the skills and knowledge of young circus artists in organizing show tours; stimulating presenters' interest in different circus forms; introducing audiences to a diverse circus in tune with emerging trends; and designing tour formats that are eco-responsible and sustainable.
