Premilinary results from the CCA survey
The Canada Council for the Arts has produced a preliminary report compiling the quantitative results from the first 7500 respondents to their survey of the professional arts sector. This survey is designed to assess the support measures announced by the federal government and whether they meet the needs of the arts sector. Here are some interesting results specific to our sector:
70% of the 67 respondents working in the circus arts requested CERB, compared to an average of 52%. Of the twelve areas of artistic practice, this represents the highest percentage.
41% of the 32 circus arts organizations have or will apply for the CEWS, compared to an average of 37% across the twelve arts sectors. The circus arts are positioned slightly behind theatre and at the same level as music.
Finally, 56% of the 98 respondents in our sector believe that the emergency assistance measures already announced by the federal government will help them or their organization get through the crisis.
