In collaboration with Valspec, En Piste is partnering with a summer circus arts residency aimed at supporting the creation, dissemination, and promotion of circus arts to the general public. This initiative offers a circus company dedicated time to develop and finalize an existing creation, in professional conditions that encourage artistic exploration and encounters with audiences.
Project objectives
- Support the artistic development of circus companies, particularly emerging artists and the work of authors.
- Contribute to the vitality and recognition of circus arts in the Beauharnois-Salaberry region.
- Promote public access to high-quality circus arts performances presented in a professional setting.
- Encourage dialogue between artists and communities through cultural mediation initiatives.
Actions taken
- Hosting a company in residence at a recognized performance venue.
- Presentation of public performances allowing the work to be tested in front of an audience.
- Organizing opportunities for exchange and mediation to strengthen ties between artists and audiences.
- Professional support provided by the presenter and En Piste, with a view to ensuring the sustainable development of the practice.
Expected results
- A well-managed circus production that is ready to continue touring.
- Concrete support for the professionalization of artists and companies.
- An enrichment of the regional cultural offering in circus arts.
- Greater public engagement with the circus arts, thanks to encounters and outreach initiatives.
This project is fully in line with En Piste’s mission to structure, support, and promote the circus arts, while strengthening collaborations with distributors and cultural actors throughout Canada.
