In total, over 80 applications were submitted. Initially, only one project was to be selected, but considering the incredible number of projects received, the jury, composed of members of the Desjardins Cultural Centre team and members of Le Cercle, the group of philanthropic women from the Lanaudière region, decided to allow two artistic companies to benefit from these paid residencies.
“We did not expect to receive so many applications,” exclaims Marjolène Turcotte, Development Coordinator, enthusiastically. “We were impressed by the quality of the projects submitted.”
The second selected project is the new creation by the company Les Foutoukours, composed of Rémi Jacques and Jean-Félix Bélanger. They will develop their show Oppidum, which features two acrobatic clowns in a forest and autumnal setting.
Les Foutoukours’ project was a favorite among several jury members. Furthermore, the presenter already has a business relationship with the company and wishes to enable them to develop their new project, which has great touring potential in Quebec, Canada, and internationally. The residency comes at a crucial time for Les Foutoukours’ process, and to test several acts, they need to be on stage. Congratulations and happy creating!
