Antoine Grenier has worked full-time in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. Most recently, he worked as a Project Manager for Cirque du Soleil (specializing in acrobatic apparatus design), developing and setting up resident shows in China and Berlin. Before that, he was the technical coordinator and head rigger of the National Circus School of Montreal, supervising the design of any new apparatus and designing the rigging for over 30 productions. He has worked extensively in film and television production as a rigger for complex aerial structures as well as an acrobatic rigger for human aerial SFX. For the past 15 years, Antoine has focused on circus performance rigging/design. He has a breadth of technical knowledge across a wide range of circus disciplines, both aerial and ground-based. His intimate knowledge of these disciplines, along with his talent for understanding an artist’s specific requirements sets him apart from most others in the field. Antoine has taught official technical classes in human rigging geared to riggers and other technicians, as well as to circus coaches and developing circus artists. He frequently works with independent professional circus artists to facilitate their apparatus and rigging design ideas. He is a sought-out consultant for industrial design and engineering researchers in both circus and the entertainment industry. (Photo credit : Antoine Grenier)
