The concepts covered in this training are basic but highly important and often poorly understood.
The primary objective is to equip participants so they can fully thrive in their careers.
- To improve the practices within our field.
- To provide more security for artists in developing their careers.
SPECIFIC GOALS:
- The different legal forms of business
- Intellectual property / copyright
- Contracts / rights transfers
- Creation budgets and production costs
- Sales taxes
- CNESST, private workplace accident insurance, and civil liability insurance
Trainer
Sophie Picard
Sophie Picard has been working in the field of circus arts for over 20 years. She is an experienced manager who has developed new skills over the years. She has never simply held a job; she has always invested herself 100% into the projects entrusted to her. Her experience is extensive. She has mastered strategic planning, human resources management, budget management, international tour management, immigration, international taxation, and activity financing. Since 2020, she has been collaborating with La Compagnie des Autres, which aims to support and encourage creation in circus arts. Today, she wishes to share the knowledge she has acquired with the community so that our artists and organizations can grow. She has had a distinguished career, having worked as a production manager in the special events department of Cirque du Soleil from 2004 to 2008 and from 2016 to 2019, served as the director of operations at 7 Doigts de la Main for many years, and co-founded the organization Cirque Barcode with 4 wonderful artists in 2019. She has been a mentor at CRITAC, is an invited professor at L’ENC for several years, and has been collaborating with EnPiste since 2011. These mentoring experiences are her passion and nourishment.
