In order to be eligible for the subsidized rate, participants must reside in Quebec and either be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident,or hold a work permit (open or closed). In addition, they must have one of the following employment statuses: Self-employed individual or Support for Self-Employment Measure, employee of a non-profit organization or a company whose payroll does not exceed $2,000,000, recipient of Employment Insurance or Social Assistance, recipient of an employment integration measure, or unemployed.
Digital technologies can offer and facilitate a space for creation, sharing and distribution. Aimed at circus artists and designers wishing to better understand the implications of sharing or participating in work online, this workshop will help demystify copyright laws within digital platforms. The workshop looks further at other intellectual property principles aimed at protecting artistic works, regardless of the medium through which they are disseminated. What do these laws protect? What do they imply?
At the end of this training, you will leave with a better knowledge of the main jurisprudence related to copyright law in digital platforms, allowing you to be able to make more informed artistic decisions!
This training is designed for circus artists, designers and cultural workers and is offered online on Zoom.

Having practiced as a lawyer and legal advisor for leading companies in the arts, entertainment and media industries (Cirque du Soleil and SDA/Coscient), Marie-Louise Donald specializes in arts, media and communications law. Having herself started her career as a musician, she is well aware of the difficulties often experienced by members of the arts community. Thus, she founded the firm Émergence Conseil in 2004.
Since then, she has been advising and accompanying artists and designers through the intricacies of intellectual property, contract negotiation, corporate governance, and the regulation and implementation of non-profit organizations and charities. In addition, she accompanies artists and designers in their career development.
