“The borough is pleased to offer residents the opportunity to play and exercise on a high-quality, inclusive playground. Thanks to this donation from our partner, the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Foundation, this playground will benefit both young and old in the neighborhood, including people with disabilities and reduced mobility, who will be able to enjoy the benefits of outdoor play,” stated Giuliana Fumagalli<\/span>, Mayor of the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough. The park’s toponymy honors the memory of Julie Hamelin<\/span> (1972-2016), author, designer, and producer for the Finzi Pasca company. She worked for over twenty years in the world of contemporary circus and performing arts. Co-founder of Cirque \u00c9loize<\/a> and Compagnia Finzi Pasca<\/a>, she is credited with designing several shows presented worldwide: closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Turin<\/span> (2006) and<\/span> Sochi (2014), opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Sochi (2014), the show Luzia<\/em> for Cirque du Soleil, and the show Montr\u00e9al Avudo<\/em> to celebrate the 375th<\/sup> anniversary of her hometown, Montreal.” <\/p>\n
