Depending on your situation and the circumstances surrounding the accident, the steps to take may vary. If you have any questions, please don\u2019t hesitate to contact En Piste. <\/p>\n\n

You can file a claim with both the CNESST and the insurer; the two processes are complementary (be sure to inform all parties involved). <\/p>\n\n

Entente CALQ-CNESST <\/strong><\/summary>\n

Circumstances of the accident: The accident occurred during a training session<\/strong> at a supervised* location <\/strong>and outside the scope of an employment contract<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First steps to take after an accident: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Notify <\/strong>the instructor, coach, the person in charge of supervising the training facility, or any other person who supervised the activity. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Make a note<\/strong> of the location, date, and time of the accident, as well as the name of the person who supervised the activity. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. See a doctor <\/strong>immediately after the incident. The doctor must provide a CNESST-approved medical certificate and a prescription for treatment. <\/li>\n\n\n\n

    Please note: even though the official deadline for filing a claim with the CNESST is six months, in practice, we recommend that you file your claim immediately after your accident<\/strong>. The longer you wait, the more likely your claim is to be denied by the CNESST. The golden rule: if in doubt, file a claim (through En Piste first). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    CNESST <\/strong><\/summary>\n

    Circumstances of the accident: The accident occurred during activities covered by an employment contract between a producer and a performer (rehearsals, performances, tours, etc.)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    First steps to take after an accident: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Notify <\/strong>your employer (the producer, the company). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Make a note <\/strong>of the location, date, and time of the accident, as well as the name of the person who supervised the activity or any witnesses. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Consultez imm\u00e9diatement un m\u00e9decin<\/strong> apr\u00e8s l’accident. Le m\u00e9decin doit vous d\u00e9livrer un certificat m\u00e9dical agr\u00e9\u00e9 par la CNESST ainsi qu’une ordonnance pour le traitement. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Important: When you file your claim with the CNESST, you must identify yourself as an employee<\/strong>, not as a self-employed worker (you may be self-employed for tax purposes, but in this context, you are considered an employee under the law). <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Reminder of the employer\u2019s obligations: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Please note that all employers are required to contribute to the CNESST<\/strong>. In the arts sector, producers are generally considered employers, while artists are considered employees (and not self-employed individuals). The requirement to contribute to the CNESST plan therefore applies to producers who hire an artist.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n

      Assurances accident <\/strong><\/summary>\n

      Circumstances of the accident: The accident occurred while you were engaged in professional activities (training, rehearsals, performances, tours), provided you have enrolled in the accident insurance plans offered through En Piste.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      First steps to take after an accident: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. Notify <\/strong>anyone who supervised or witnessed the activity. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Notez <\/strong>le lieu, la date et l’heure de l’accident, ainsi que le nom de la personne qui supervisait l’activit\u00e9 ou de tout t\u00e9moin. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. See a doctor<\/strong> immediately after the incident. Ask the doctor to fill out the medical certificate requested by the insurer (you can download it from the confirmation email you received when you paid for the insurance). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Contact the insurer <\/strong>within 30 days of the accident. All the details are in the confirmation email you received when you paid for the insurance. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n
