Envisioning the Future of Circus Together
To mark its forum, “What’s the next story for circus?”, En Piste invites its members and partners to a gathering where reflection will come to life, fuelled as much by words as by experience. More than just a space for discussion, the Forum aims to be an experience where reflection takes shape: through words, of course, but also through experimentation, creativity and intuitive intelligence. The aim is to create the conditions for thinking together about the future of the circus, drawing on both our imagination and our past histories. In the wake of the 2026 AGM, a pivotal moment for the sector, this initiative marks the starting point for a formative reflection on the next phase of circus development in Canada. At the dawn of a new strategic cycle, En Piste wishes to initiate a broad and open collective conversation that will inform the development of the next circus master plan.
Led by Anne-Laure Mathieu, Tania Orméjuste et Jada Awad in collboration with Consultation Tania Orméjuste, the facilitation process offers a framework that is both supportive and open, encouraging active and engaged participation. Participants will be invited to take part in participatory activities, collective explorations and guided discussions, designed to bring ideas to the forefront through dialogue as well as experience.
The Forum is thus intended as a space where different paths and perspectives intersect, where ideas take shape through shared stories, intuitions, images and experimentation. From these exchanges will emerge key themes, informed by the diversity of practices, sensibilities and realities within the sector.
More than just a moment of reflection, this Forum is an invitation to create meaning together, to strengthen bonds within the circus community and to cultivate a strong sense of belonging. A space to give birth to a collective narrative of the circus: alive, embodied and moving towards the future.
