Performing arts workers, be aware of a financial aid program that is available to the community now!
The Programme de réactivation, run by The AFC, is providing direct financial assistance of up to $2,500 to people working in live theatre and other performing arts. The Reactivation Program provides short-term financial help to cover living expenses/pandemic debt, or professional costs such as training, licenses, memberships, equipment , and more. The program is funded by Canadian Heritage, Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund (CPAWRF).
It is open to all: artists, technicians, production teams and other performing arts professionals. People do not have to be unemployed to qualify for this financial relief.
Some people may have more than enough work right now (in performing arts on stage or backstage, or in another sector to make ends meet) and yet are still dealing with financial stress caused by the pandemic. The Reactivation Program can help.
They have a team of people to provide help and support with the application process. Performing arts workers qualify for this financial support simply if they have worked in performing arts for a few years and are in need of short-term financial help.
