Call for projects | circus arts residency at Valspec, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield 

Valspec, in partnership with En piste, would like to offer a summer circus arts residency from July 21 to 26, 2025, at Salle Albert-Dumouchel or Cabaret d'Albert. The residency will conclude with two performances for the general public, on the evenings of July 25 and 26.

The aim of this residency is to offer a circus company the opportunity to come and fine-tune an existing creation, in order to give two performances at the end of the week. Through this residency, Valspec wishes to pursue its work to develop audiences and the circus discipline in the Beauharnois-Salaberry region, encourage up-and-coming circus artists and circus creators, and create links between artists and audiences through artistic mediation activities.

Eligibility criteria

- The company or collective must be a member of En piste.

- The show must be aimed at the general public

- Artists must be available for a post-show talkback session

- Be able to offer a mediation workshop (not mandatory, but a plus!)

- Shows must not include fire or animal acts.

Selection criteria

A jury made up of members of the Valspec team, a member of the Valspec audience, a professional referred by En Piste and a guest presenter will analyze the applications and make the selection, based on the following criteria:

- Artistic quality

- originality

- Coherence between the requested fee and the project

Technical resources for the week

- 4 hours of set-up (Monday morning or at another time) + 4 hours of dismantling (at the end of the Saturday show)

- 1 technician for daytime support all week (schedule to be determined)

- Beyond the resources provided, our hourly rate is $50/hour per additional technician.
