Results from the North-American survey on equity and inclusion in circus, and more
In August, En Piste partnered with Circus for Change to promote their survey on equity and inclusion in the North American circus arts community. Data has now been compiled and results are available!
There will be an opportunity for the results to be presented to the Canadian circus community, for Circus for Change to explain their approach and methodology, and for a discussion to follow on the topic, later in February 2021. Watch this space!
In the meantime, if you want to read more about the subject, CAPACOA has held a virtual conferenced entitled Rebuilding Upon More Sustainable and Equitable Foundations - Equity & Inclusion on November 3, 2020. The intimate discussion explored implications and actions of rebuilding a new sector with equity and inclusion enshrined in Canadian arts organizations, businesses or artistic practices. You can read a summary here and watch a recording of the session here.
Finally, Circus for Change have recently created a 12-weeks quarantine aerial fitness conditioning program whose proceeds go towards charitable organizations helping people through the pandemic. Find out more here.
